First Snowfall

I'm sure that the McCall relatives are seeing the same thing out their windows, but we had our first snowfall today....a lot earlier than usual. Scott is in Portland right now, with work, so these pictures are for him. I tried to take some with my phone to send him, but you could hardly see the snow. Even these pictures don't give this storm any justice, the flakes are HUGE. I don't think I've really seen flakes this large.

This would be the sky, obviously a lot cooler in person.

Who loves sunglasses?

I usually leave my sunglasses sitting around for Spencer to play with. I'm not a huge fan of sunglasses, I can only wear them for ten minutes or so, before they start to irritate me. I only wear them because I have sensitive eyes. Spencer can't get enough of them. He comes and puts them on me, then I put them back on him, and he actually leaves them on for a while.

Change of Plans

Just to clarify, Scott didn't end up going out of town. He was suppose to go on the 25 of September. But our stake completely redid the boundaries making five wards instead of six. There was a meeting on September 28 to go over all of that. The owner of the company Scott works for, whose in our ward, wanted to go to the meeting. So he told Scott that he could ride down with him after the meeting. Then as of Sunday morning, plans changed, and he was told that he could either go Sunday at 2, or Wednesday (with the other owner....their brothers). So he decided to go Wednesday. They told us that at church, so Scott would have had to leave early to go get his stuff ready, and also we wouldn't have known what to do with Spencer....I play the organ in Sacrament meeting, then had to teach the Sunbeams. Well, they ended up getting a job in Louisiana....so Wednesday came, and they were still waiting to hear something from that job, which would change everything, and who goes where. I don't know the details, but they didn't hear anything on Wednesday. They were then suppose to hear on Thursday, but again, didn't. So as of then Scott doesn't know what the deal is. So I asked him again a few days later, and he said that if he was going anywhere, he wouldn't leave until the 20th of October. I asked again, a few days later, about leaving on the 20th, and he doesn't know. So as of right now, he's here, which is fine with me. He might get sent to a job in Washington near the end of the year. This job would actually be a few months, but from the middle of December to the end of January I don't have school, so I could go with him. And during school, I could go visit...Washington is definitely closer than Texas or Louisiana.

What makes life 100%?

I love watching conference. My 2 favorite talks this year were from Elder Holland, about Angels, and President Monson, about change, and making the most of everything. Which is ironic, because our entire stake had it boundaries redone...and I don't think anyone is that thrilled. It made me feel a little better that, the housework has gone to crap, my biology is not going as well as planned, and my flute doesn't get touched near as much as I would like....but I do play with Spencer almost 24/7. We go swimming, to the park, on walks, Planet Kid, go see the dogs at the mall, we do it all. You should Spencer's face when we see the dogs, and he doesn't care what he's doing as long as he's outside....Everything can wait. When I heard President Monson's talk I thought about a little think I got in Seminary.

Talking up a storm

I love Spencer's baby book. It goes into so much detail. It has a page for, family trees, ultra sound stuff, pregnancy stuff, stuff about mom and dad, hospital details, baby shower details, coming home details. It even has a current events page, so you can see what was going on when you were born, and a price page, where you can right down the prices of thing when you were born. I looked on that particular page, and August 2007, I put 3.00 +/- for gas. Man only 3.00 or so for gas...just a year ago! Then it has a page starting at 1 month going all the way through 12 months, where it has spaces to write: sleeping patterns, foods, words, just about everything. Well once it hits a year, it then goes by every year. So I'm going to try to keep track on my blog some of Spencer's new achievements, since there isn't any more space in the baby book. Spencer is a absolute, complete mimic. Up until now, he can easily say: dad, mom, ball, uh-oh, dog, baby, and Katie. His newest word within the last week is "grandpa". My dad had a week vacation he took, so Spencer and I had company. Spencer loves hanging out with Grandpa, so since that week, he says "grandpa" a lot. When he sees something he likes, he points with his short, round finger and goes "Oooooo"... and when something is fun he goes, "Weeeee". As far as the mimicking goes, we can get him to say, "grandma" and "football" He doesn't do those 2 by himself, but he will say them if we do. He also tries to say bath. He is always talking though, whether we can understand or not. He is even starting to mimic rhythms, and voice inflection.

Swimming

We love swimming! Spencer has always loved the water. He loves to splash, kick, and go under. I put him in swimming lessons, this summer, but we try to go to the YMCA as often as we can so he doesn't lose what he learned. Spencer is fearless when it comes to the water, so I'm going to always make sure he's in swimming lessons. My mom said that I was two or so the first time that I swam across a pool, Spencer is definitely headed in that direction. So, we went to the YMCA today to go swim. He loves slides, so we gave the Kiddie-pool slide a whirl; he fell backwards. So I put him down a few times on his back, but when ever I do that, he just freezes...It's so funny. Most kids try to sit up when you force them on their backs, but he stays put until you move him. After a while I put him back sitting up and he did fine. He only fell back one more time (I think he was tired). We also tried the big blue slide. He loved, he said, "WEEEEE" the whole way down. WEEEE is his latest word. He says it everytime we go to the park, even if he's not going down the slide. He says it while other people go down slides. And he says it to his toys, especially his cars, as he puts them down slides. He is definitely a water-dog. In this picture (on the slide) he's not even going down. He frozen. His suit and his head are keeping him from not going down. His head is where it is still flat.
