The scoop on Spence

Everyone knows that Scott and I have been raising a non-eater and non-sleeper. Up until he was a year, he stayed in the 20ish percentile for weight. However, once he went off formula it consistently dropped...down to 10th, then 5th, and as of now he's not on the charts. He weighed 21 pounds at his 1 year doctor appointment and 23 pounds at his 2 year appointment. When I went to his 2 year appointment, while the doctor and I were discussing his weight, out of the blue she asked, "Does he snore?" I was a little taken back, because it didn't seem relevant, but yes he does snore. We then changed the subject to his sleeping patters. It took forever for him to sleep all the way through the night, and now that he does, he snores. So the doctor and I managed to come up with a conclusion, drawing both his sleeping and eating patterns together....his tonsils. Little kids with huge tonsils don't eat that great, simply because it's harder...not enough space in their throat for food. Also kids with huge tonsils suffer from sleep apnea. They stop breathing in their sleep because their tonsils cut down the size of their airway. So their brains constantly have to wake them up to breath, thus never fully going to sleep.
I took Spencer to an ear, nose, and throat doctor, and we have concluded to take Spencer's tonsils out. I have talked to several people who have had to deal with the same issue, and they have all said that it is like night and day when the tonsils are out. Their kids slept better, and gained an appetite. Spencer is scheduled to get his tonsils out on November 30th, and we are crossing our fingers that it will help.

Natalie's Birthday

Natalie turned 7 last week, and had the girliest, fanciest, frilliest princess birthday party. They (Natalie and 16 of her friends!) started out with a tea party. Lindsey had hot chocolate for them to drink, they got to spoon in the chocolate powder, like they were spooning in sugar for tea. Small finger foods were also served. Also everyone wore their fanciest princess dresses, and prince clothes (Spencer and Alex). One of Lindsey's friends is a ballet teacher, and agreed to come and give everyone a ballet lesson. So after the tea party, all the girls got a free ballet lesson and danced around. Natalie had a blast, and received lOtS of really nice presents from her friends.

I think Spencer had a little too much fun:) By the end of the party, he ended up with a tutu, and stickers all over his body:)

Halloween X 2

Spencer enjoyed 2 fun-filled nights of Halloween this year! Our ward decided to do their "trunk-or-treat" on Friday night, the 30th, instead of Halloween night. Which is a little odd, but I didn't care because that gave Spencer another night to put on his costume. Spencer is also a candy fiend, so he was pretty excited. It's been a fun month, because Spencer has been sooo into Halloween. Anything with the words "candy" "party" or "Halloween" gets him excited. So I kept telling him we were going to Halloween parties to get candy:)

We love trick-or-treating to our neighbors house, because they give out cans of Pepsi every year:) We have our usual rounds that we make every year; to the neighbors, some friends, and then out to my grandma's and my grandma's neighbor...after the trunk-or-treat of course.

Scott was working at the Haunted Woods on Halloween. Him being gone is becoming somewhat of a tradition. Last year he was also gone, working in New Orleans. He got to spend Halloween on Bourbon Street..not fair.
Eating the candy was Spencer's favorite part....2 nights in a row. He got a whole variety of stuff this year: Pepsi, bags of chips, pencils, sticker, toys.
