update

I have tried really faithfully to keep my blog updated. I like to print them out, making sure that important events are recorded, while avoiding keeping a journal and scrap-booking. However, I have failed the last few months..I don't think I even put up any holiday pictures. So here is a much needed update into our world: Parker 1, Spencer 4
Spencer & Parker as Woody and Buzz - while playing with Woody and Buzz. Spencer likes Toy Story, but he has never been completely hooked on it like he is with cars and piratesHere are just a couple of misc. pictures. Scott works as a project manager for an asbestos abatement company, and is out of town most of the time. Therefore, I am taking pictures all day long to send him. Unfortunately, I don't have a smart phone or a camera that works, so my phone that apparently isn't smart, has to do. Spencer will be five the very end of August, just a few days before the Kindergarten deadline. After much debate, and research, I have decided to hold him back a year. He's already very small for his age, boys are less mature, socially I don't think he'd like to be the smallest and the youngest, etc etc etc. So I finally found a preschool in Boise he will attend in September. Plus he is signed up for a few classes this fall, so hopefully the extreme boredom phase he is going through will soon subside. Parker is a busy-body. He loves to jump and throw things. He intentionally climbs up onto things just so he can jump off of them. And I am literally spending my day trying to keep him from shattering everything in the house, because he throws anything in his reach. Having said that, balls are a favorite right now. As for myself, I am trying to build up my private studio. I have five flute students and one piano student. I have recently become a "Let's Play Music" certified piano teacher. So come May, when the next round of "Lets Play Music" kids graduate, I should be getting a slew of piano students. Since I studied flute in college, that's what I prefer teaching, but i'll take what I can get.Here is one of their Christmas presents from this year. They also got a loft bed that has a slide. They love both, but I am just waiting for my first broken bone. I think it is inevitable with boys.We decided to have a Mardi Gras party on Fat Tuesday this year. Spencer is all about haveing a party, so any excuse we have, we do so. Basically they dressed up, paraded around while Lindsey and I through fake coins at them, had a kingcake, and watched Princess and the FrogMyself and my nephew, AlexEveryone had their own kingcake. And instead of eating, they just dug for their prize. Everyone loved it, except Parker. He freaks if his hands are dirty. He just starred at it, then had a melt down when Lindsey shoved his hands in the cake. He started eating with a fork at a very young age.

tonsillectomy #2

Both of my boys are terrible sleepers.Both have (had) huge tonsils which were affecting their breathing while they slept. So now both have had tonsillectomies.

Christmas decorations

This is the first year that we put all of our Christmas stuff out the day after Thanksgiving. Scott's work has taken him all the way to Louisiana & Mississippi for the holiday season. From November 26-December 22 Scott gets to be in a decor-less hotel room without any Christmas festivities. Spence couldn't handle himself any longer without a Christmas tree, so we thought that it would be nice to for both Scott & Spencer to put up the tree together, before work took dad away.
Spencer gets to pick out an ornament every year, and this year he choose a Phineas and Ferb ornament. We didn't let Parker pick out an ornament because he is too busy pulling off every other ornament on the tree...naughty.In this picture, Spence is showing off our Christmas tree painted, advent calendar white board along with his "fire-shooter" hat.What is Christmas without matching Cars Christmas shirts.

More camping/summer pictures

For most of my childhood, my birthdays were spent camping in McCall.My birthday this year, was not any different. We went camping with my side of the family, and spent the day swimming in the lake, and eating at the Pancake House.Parker is my good eater. He very willingly will sit at his table when it's time to eat. And is always the last one still eating.It is unbelievable how dirty my boys get while camping.
Other summer activities:We love to go down to play in the Centre on the Grove fountainYou may be wondering why my little sister Katie is wearing such a large hat..a few weeks prior, while boating, Katie got sun burnt. It wasn't your average sunburn, however. Several days later her forehead became swollen. It was the oddest thing, it literally looked like she had play dough under her skin. Her forehead could be molded into different shapes. Our favorite was sticking our finger into it and leaving a dent. Days later the swelling continued down her face, and she then became an avatar.Have you ever had the bridge of your nose swell? We hit the Western Idaho Fair every year. However, year after year, I am liking it less and less. Parker, however, got a kick out of feeding the animals.Spence loves going on the little rides. Parker was scarred for life, after Scott and I made him go on a ride at Lagoon. Spence goes solo for now.Parker will go on carousels, and thinks that they are great. Po Jo's is a favorite of ours.

Spencer's Birthday

Spencer's birthday was all the way back in August - I'm just late putting up pictures. You would think that since I'm not in school I'd have more time to update my blog. I guess previous semesters I was putting off homework by blogging.
Spencer turned 4 this year, and had a fun-filled day. He decided to have a Cars 2 birthday party, so we began our festivities by going and watching Cars 2 at the theater.
Following the movie we ate lunch and headed straight up to Lucky Peak for some birthday boating.Spencer falls asleep every time we go on the boat.
Spencer is a very mature, articulate, smart little 4 year old. He's very cautious, and very sympathetic. However, once you break his shell he's very funny, high energy, and is the leader of the pack. He's very curious, driving us insane with millions of questions, and also quick-witted and likes to negotiate. We love him, and can't believe that he is already 4!!

Star Struck

My little sister Katie sends me this text one day (she works at the BSU bookstore): "Carly, I just rang up Kellen Moore's books!!"
Two minutes later I recieve this picture text:

A few weeks later I recieve a phone call (Katie is at the mall, and hysterically laughing): "Carly, Flava Flav is at the mall!! He's just walking around..so we are following him. He just came out of Champ Sports."
